Planning for the school holidays is a task that our Lifestyle Managers take very seriously to ensure that the little people in our members lives have something to look forward to during their school holiday break, especially if mum and dad are juggling work and activities and not joining the masses that have departed for Europe this winter.
Sheraton Melbourne – Little Superheroes – Kids Can Cook
Join the team at the Sheraton Melbourne as they celebrate kids creativity and their favourite superheroes. After the success of their previous Kids Can Cook event, the Sheraton thought they would make this one super amusing. Kids will learn the art of pastry making whilst parents enjoy Afternoon Tea.
All kids (and adults) are invited to attend dressed as their chosen superhero.

Sugar Republic
It’s this winter’s ‘must see’ exhibition for anyone who ever hit a sugar high, slammed a Tim Tam or jumped for joy at the sound of a Mr. Whippy van. Sugar Republic is a truly unique experience for adults and kids alike and it’s only open in Melbourne for a very short time so don’t miss out!

Prahran Market Kids Cooking with Sweetpea
Let your little Sweepteas get hands-on to measure, mix, mash and make two delicious bites in this kids-only cooking workshop. Once our two recipes are ready, there’ll be plenty to taste and some to take home.
Encourage your kids to explore new ingredients and develop some introductory cooking skills under the guidance of Sweetpea Cuisine these school holidays. Places are limited and for children of 5 years of age and over.

Relish Mama Cooking Classes, Cheltenham
Roll up those sleeves for some really delicious food with a delicious healthy spin. This class is for kids aged 11-16. The Relish Mama team believe that every child should be given the opportunity to learn to cook. The classes are designed as a sign in and drop off style, to allow mum’s and dad’s ‘you’ time.

Come and enjoy a class inspired by the traditions of some old-fashioned Aussie classic dishes. Join Catherine in this hands-on class where you will prepare & enjoy these hugely popular classics. Dishes that you will easily be able to replicate in your own home kitchen. On the menu will be mini meat pies, laminations, ANZAC biscuits, chicken parmas and mini pavlovas.

Dream Dance
Book into a 90-minute workshop at the Immigration Museum which includes a kite making activity, storytelling of Li’s book The Peasant Prince and an introductory dance class with specialist ballet teachers. Suitable for children The aged 5 to 10 years.

Otway Fly – Weeaproniah
The school holidays is the perfect time for a family adventure with a getaway or day trip to the Otway Fly Treetops Adventures. High above the Otways rainforest, this platform-to-platform flying fox takes you on seven ziplines of varying speeds and lengths, and two rope bridges.
There is also the treetop walk which provides unrivalled views of the unique beauty of the region’s flora and fauna, from the rainforest floor up into the soaring heights of the treetops.

Legoland Discovery Centre
Lego has opened a Legoland Discovery Centre at Chadstone Shopping Centre. It occupies a whopping space (2800 sqm) and includes a bunch of attractions, including Miniland Melbourne, where the city has been recreated out of thousands of Lego bricks, play zones and Lego-themed rides. There is also a 4D cinema (it’s a sensory cinematic adventure – the wind will actually blow in your hair) on-site, so you can re-watch your favourite Lego movies on the big screen, and a Lego factory tour.

Film Fest Holiday Workshops
Time for teens to put down their iPads and iPhones and embrace the real thing.
Enjoy getting to know and finding the beauty in digital cameras in this three-day filmmaking intensive. Work with Cobie Orger, an experienced filmmaker to tease out genre and story, then storyboard, rehearse, perform in, shoot and edit short films made collaboratively in small groups. Explore filming styles, equipment, and editing techniques.
Then, on the final afternoon, your masterpiece will be screened in the theatre’s makeshift cinema for an audience of family and friends.

What makes you happy? What’s important to you?
Learn about the symbols used in Bushra’s Tramjatra design and how she put it all together, then create images and motifs that express your own story. You will be making one large artwork on the ArtPlay wall and each person will have a section to complete.
First, play around with different ideas through sketching; then use mixed media such as paint, collage, pencil and stickers to test out techniques and bring your work to life. Then, place all the sections on the wall and see the artwork come together as one! Suitable for children aged 6 – 12 years.

Calling all wild things! Inspired by the classic story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ this special three-day intensive workshop with Amelia Ducker explores journeys, mischief, and monsters.
