The Jamala Wildlife Lodge offers a world of adventure, luxury and excitement.   You can choose to sleep next to a bear in his den, have breakfast with the lions or say hello to the giraffes from your balcony, breathtaking!!  In 1998, a local family set about building a major zoo that housed animals in as comfortable surroundings possible.  they set out to build enclosures that were larger than in other zoos in Australia, and now the husbandry and welfare of the animals is acclaimed worldwide.

The luxury five star, Jamala Wildlife Lodge was built to give everyone the opportunity of experiencing the thrill of close encounters with some of the worlds most dangerous and endangered animals while still providing luxury accommodation, gourmet cuisine and five star service.   The funds raised from Jamala Lodge allow the zoo to continue to grow and supports the zoo’s breeding programs.

Your stay is highly organised with an overnight itinerary that ensures you get the most out of your visit Zoo experience:-

Check in and welcome, enjoy a light afternoon tea and meet some animals

4:30 pm             Leisure time
6:15 pm              Pick up from the Lodge
Pre-dinner drinks in “The Cave” at the Aquarium Rainforest, followed by dinner with some exotic guests

The AfricaCanberra Zoo2n inspired suites lie in the heart of the Zoo and each offer a unique experience, The Giraffe Treehouses, Jungle Bungalows and uShaka Lodge.

The Giraffe Treehouses allow guests to overlook and wander freely amongst a friend herd of animals in a private enclosure, at the end of the afternoon tour you will have the opportunity to feed the giraffes right from your balcony.

The Jungle Bungalows are luxurious individual suites adjoining a variety of enclosures through the property.  A glass wall is all the separates you from a pride of lion’s cheetahs, tiger, brown bears or laayn sun bear. You can relax on your lounge, rest in your bed or take a bath you are only a foot step away from these animals.

Canberra Zoo10uShaka Lodge is a beautiful 7 room lodge with a amazing lounge, dining area, pool, spa and tropical gardens.  The lodge used to be the former owners residence and contains shark tanks in your living area and monkey viewing from the terrace, overlook the hyena and lemur enclosures.

The National Zoo and Aquarium is Australia’s only combined Zoo and Aquarium.  The zoo is situated on 7 hectares of land just 5 minutes from the centre of Canberra.  The zoo has a variety of animals as well as the largest inland saltwater tank in Australia.  There is something for everyone here.
