ReLove was born in 2021 after founders Ren and Ben discovered a critical gap in support for people moving into safe housing. What began as a community project to help five women furnish their homes after experiencing domestic violence quickly revealed a much greater need. They became aware that many people starting over were moving into completely empty homes.
Today, ReLove has grown into one of Sydney’s leading support services for people rebuilding their lives after homelessness, domestic violence or incarceration. At the heart of its work is dignity and choice, ensuring every person feels supported and empowered as they begin a new chapter.
Through its thoughtfully designed Free Store in Alexandria, clients can personally choose everything they need to make their new space feel like home—from quality furniture and household essentials to kitchenware and linen. The experience provides more than practical support; it helps restore a sense of independence, comfort and control.
ReLove rescues quality furniture at scale from the hotel and property industries, retailers and the wider community, preventing valuable pieces from ending up in landfill. By giving these items a second life, the organisation creates an environmental solution to an important social need.
Businesses can experience ReLove’s work first hand through its corporate volunteer days. Teams work alongside ReLove staff to organise and style the Free Store, assemble furniture, prepare kitchen and linen starter packs, assist with client appointments and help set up homes across Sydney.
Available as half-day or full day experiences, these volunteer days offer a meaningful opportunity for colleagues to connect outside the workplace while creating na immediate and visible impact. ReLove generally welcomes teams of 10 to 15 people, with tailored experiences also available for larger groups.
