There has never been a better time to experience Canberra’s iconic wildlife sanctuary than this April School Holidays with the ultimate family sleepover – A Wild Night Out at Tidbinbilla.

More than just accommodation the Pop-Up Wilderness Family Camp includes your overnight stay in Glamping Tents with real beds, 5 Unique Day & Night Ranger Activities, Dinner, Campfire fun under the stars, Breakfast as well as a day pass to explore Tidbinbilla after check out.

Explore this vast 54.5 square kilometre Nature Reserve with specially designed ranger guided activities that offer NEW and exclusive ways to learn about the diversity of wildlife in this unique landscape, understand the culture of the traditional country of the Ngunnawal people and see the history of European settlement in the Tidbinbilla Valley. From Hi Tech Wildlife, Behind the Scenes at the Vet Centre to CSI Tidbinbilla we have created engaging workshop for kids ideally aged between 5 – 12 years. Younger kids are welcome by arrangement, this is a family camp with lights out at 10pm.

The importance of understanding native flora and fauna has never been more vital and Tidbinbilla runs one of Australia’s leading endangered species conservation and breeding programs with successful re introductions of the Northern Corroboree Frogs and Southern Brush Tailed Rock Wallabies back into the nature reserve. See these animals in the wild as mother nature intended as well as kangaroos, koalas, platypus, potoroos, wallaroos, possums, wombats, echidnas, emus, lyrebirds, turtles, sugar gliders alongside many other birds and reptiles, explore the diverse geography from the wetlands and Eucalypt forest to the mountains and get an insight into the vital work carried out by the ACT Parks & Conservation team.

Cost: Adult $295 per night and kids (5 – 12 years of age) $195 per night

If you have children younger then 5 years of age the cost will be quoted per family on booking.

Tents: Tidbinbilla can accommodate 2, 3 or 4 people (when booking, please nominate how many adults and children and if you are a family bigger than 4 persons, extra beds can be added into their larger tents on request).

A Wild Night Out at Tidbinbilla Sample Itinerary

3.00pm Arrive at Tidbinbilla and go to the Visitors Centre Pick up welcome pack, day pass, arrival map and any additional supplies

3.30pm Check-in at Flints to Wilderness Family Camp Wildfest Staff will get you settled into your pre-booked tent for the night

3.45pm Welcome to Tidbinbilla Join the team for a barefoot introduction to Tidbinbilla, start to wind down and relax as we welcome you into our home. Learn about the wildlife of Tidbinbilla with our special touch table and start to feel nature. We also ‘Welcome You To Country” as Tidbinbilla is derived from the Ngunnawal word ‘Jedbinbilla’ – a place where boys were made men. So this site is an important meeting place. We will do staff introductions, site orientation, amenities and emergency evacuation procedures so you know your way around camp.

4.30pm – 5.30pm CSI Tidbinbilla Join a fun ‘CSI’ style investigation where we will hunt for the predator who has taken one of our Potaroos from the Eucalypt forest. Solve the clues to catch the bad guy and learn more about predators while taking part in this interactive activity.

5.30pm – 7pm Fireside Culture Chat You’re invited to join a Murrumbung Aboriginal Ranger for a fireside talk about traditional ways and Aboriginal culture.

7.15pm Dinner in Flints Camp in Catering Tent Dinner is hot BBQ Buffet with vegetarian options available by prior request followed by dessert. Soft drinks and water are included in the package. Optional – wine is available for purchase

9pm Night Wildlife Walk around Flints and Star Gazing Wildfest guide takes you for a walk to spot pygmy possums, kangaroos, wallabies, ringtail gliders and more from camp as you learn about the night sky and all the stars

10pm Lights Out (sleep tight)

7.00am Continental Breakfast in catering tent / hot self-serve tea & coffee

7.30am Morning Birds of Tidbinbilla Join a Ranger on an early morning bush walk where you’ll learn about the birds of Tidbinbilla. Hear the calls, find the feathers and see if you can spot something exciting! Learn different calls from common birds like Treecreeper or Ripper the Musk Dusk to some of our rare robins.

8.30am- 10am Behind the Scene’s at the Vet Centre Have you ever wondered what happens behind the scenes to keep all the wildlife at Tidbinbilla happy and healthy? Join the Wildlife team and get up close and personal with a critically endangered Northern Corroboree Frog and find out what goes on behind closed doors…

10.30am Check Out of Wilderness Family Camp and enjoy the rest of the day exploring Tidbinbilla. See the koalas at the Eucalyptus Forest, spot platypus and turtles in the wetlands walk or just take in a hike on this beautiful unique wildlife sanctuary.
