We sat down with Carol to find out her ‘top picks’ for this Winter season and to find the answer to our burning question, of what to do we need this autumn | winter season.
1.Gucci 1955 small horse cross body – Net-a-porter – $2,070
This classic cross-body shape and tan colour will up the ante on all your monochrome outfits, pair with neutrals such as black, navy, beige and white, it will work just as well with denim and a white t-shirt in summer. What I love about it is the size, big enough to fit all the essentials with a separate front pocket for the phone. This is a classic investment bag that will see you reach for it over and over again especially if you tend to wear darker colours in winter, this lighter bag will lift a dark outfit and add interest to a lighter tonal look.
2. Viktoria & Woods Frequency Blazer – $550
This versatile jacket with a detachable belt can be worn as a classic black jacket or as a wrap jacket which give the outfit a more relaxed vibe. If you are in the market to update your jacket (time to ditch that Camilla and Marc double breasted jacket from 2018).
Why it’s worth investing in? It is a longer line jacket which covers the butt and the soft tailored cut is just loose enough to create that effortless vibe without losing your shape completely. Great belted with a white knit and wide-legged pants for work or pair with leather pants or a slip dress for the evening. Available in Black and Frappe colour.
3. Saba Trench Coat – $599
This Merino wool long line trench coat is in this winter’s most covet colour, sage green. The fabric is warm and soft but with enough structure to sit nicely on the shoulders and falling just below the knee, this is the perfect trench for those who doesn’t love a traditional trench coat. Layer over a cream cashmere knit and tailored black pants for a sophisticated office look or drape over floral dresses and boots for the weekend.
4. Wide-legged Pants – Scanlan Theodore – $550 | Zimmerman – $425
Nothing says effortless and chic more than well-fitted tailored pieces. One of my favourite updates for this winter is a pair of wide legged tailored trouser. What makes these pants so great is the cut and shape. Cut to cinch in at the waistline with a flattering wide band and askew pockets, the looser wide leg looks great with a high-heel and just as chic with a trainer. Wear with a simple silk shirt or turtle neck knit for the office or dress-up in the evening with a one-shoulder top or a sequins cami, options are endless. Just remember to look at the proportions, don’t wear anything too oversized on the top and you must tuck the top in at the front to show off the waistband.
5. Friends with Frank Camilla Coat – $759
If you haven’t invested in a camel coat yet, this is it! This classic wool and cashmere coat with deep pockets is the epitome of effortless chic. This warm caramel colour is great for most completions and adds warmth to the winter monochromes staples. Wear with everything and anything from classic black jumper and tailored pants to a knit dress and ankle boots. On the weekend layer over jeans and a chunky knit for a casual and chic vibe or drape over the shoulders over an evening dress for an event.
6. Wittner Gianna Black Leather over the Knee Boot – $380
Every once in a while a boot comes along that has everything I am looking for. A sensible heel for walking, pointy toe for a modern edge and in quality leather and a great price point. These boots are best paired with long flowing midi or mini dresses, layer with a trench or a coat in winter.
