In a spectacular architectural space of Jorn Utzon’s pavilion in the Sydney Opera House, Bennelong presents Sunday Jazz, paired to Executive Chef Peter Gilmore’s signature choice a la carte menu.

Bennelong presents sees leading Australian jazz artists take to the stage each Sunday, while guests from all over the world enjoy a two or three course menu. Upcoming performances include French Jazz on the 14th January with Tessie Overmeyer on alto saxophone and Lloyd Santon on base, a very fun take on Working 9 to 5 slated for the 28th January with pianist Leonie Cohen and vocalist Nicky Crayson.

Bennelong is an iconic Sydney restaurant, offering culturally significant and inspiring menu showcasing a magnificent production of Australian food and wine.

Reservations from 12pm to 3.30 pm, and music until 4.30 pm.

Three course choice menu for $190 per person available in The Restaurant, The Circle, and The Counter with $40 cover charge.

Sunday 10 March – I Love Paris
Pianist Leonie Cohen and vocalist Nicky Crayson are two of Australia’s finest jazz musicians. They also share a love of 1980s pop. Expect highly original arrangements of Gershwin, Porter, Rodgers—as well as Dolly Parton, Prince, and The Knack. With Hugh Fraser (bass) and Nic Cecire (drums).

Necks legend Chris Abrahams on piano with Phillip Johnston on alto saxophone, Lloyd Swanton on bass, and James Greening on trumpet and trombone.

Sunday 24 March – Matt McMahon salutes Australian Greats
Piano master Matt McMahon and tenor saxophonist Loretta Palmeiro perform compositions by Australian jazz greats including Don Burrows, Bernie McGann, Mike Nock, Judy Bailey, and Jonathan Zwartz. Joined by Tim Rollinson on guitar and Brett Hirst on bass.

Sunday 31 March – Alister Spence Trio with Mary Rapp
The great Alister Spence on piano, with Mary Rapp on bass and vocals, accompanied by Yutaro Okuda on guitar.

Sunday 28 April – Ben Fink and Friends
A bit of jazz and a lot of soul: Ben Fink (guitar, vocals) mixes it up with Matt McMahon (piano), Brett Hirst (bass), and Samuel Golding (trumpet, saxophone).

Sunday 5 May – Lauren White Quartet
With a sophistication that belies their age, Lauren White (vocals, bass), Hilary Geddes (guitar), Lauren Tsamouras (piano), and Abby Constable (drums) take to the stage for a lively afternoon of jazz.

Sunday 12 May – Swinging Songs for Mother’s Day
Three of Australia’s best jazz singers – Trish Delaney-Brown, Sam Walton, and Briana Cowlishaw – harmonise as Lyhra with Charlie Meadows (guitar), Nick Hoorweg (bass), and Nic Cecire (drums), in this special Mother’s Day performance.

Sunday 19 May – Chansons D’Amour with Virna Sanzone
Virna Sanzone sings French and Italian love songs, joined on stage by Matt McMahon (piano), Carl Dewhurst (guitar), and Brett Hirst (bass).

Sunday 26 May – Casey Golden with Phillip Johnston Trio
One of the best young Australian jazz pianists today, Casey Golden, performs with Phillip Johnston (saxophone), Tim Rollinson (guitar), and Lloyd Swanton (bass).
