The Melbourne Food & Wine Festival was founded in 1993, and has grown from a modest offering of 12 events to an internationally recognised program of more than 200 events across the breadth of Melbourne, as well as satellite events around the state of Victoria.

MFWF 2024 in March will feature one-off dinners, chef residences, pop-ups and long lunches. Spanning across 10 days, from March 15 – 24, the MFWF program will feature over 300 events across the city and surrounding suburbs, with Federation Square serving as the festival’s epicentre.

World’s Longest Lunch 2024 presented by La Trobe Financial

Doubling down on the maximum Melbourne quality of seating, MFWF have invited Andrew McConnell, one of the city’s most lauded culinary talents to bring the magic to the World’s Longest Lunch this year, to bring to the events some of the magic that has made venues such as Gimlet, Cumulus Inc, Supernormal and Cutler & Co essential highlights of the contemporary Australian dining landscape.

More than three decades on from its humble beginnings on the turf at the MCG, the World’s Longest Lunch now kicks off the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival each year with food from a celebrated chef served across more than 600 metres of table winding through Melbourne’s superb Kings Domain, in a spectacular dining experience that must be seen to be believed.

Andrew McConnell is the quintessential Melbourne chef, as interested in art, design and culture as he is prime produce, sustainable farming and switched-on service.

“It’s a great pleasure to be part of the World’s Longest Lunch this March,” says McConnell. “It’s going to be a great way to open this year’s festival.”

Every ticket for this year’s World’s Longest Lunch, presented by La Trobe Financial, includes a three-course lunch designed by Andrew McConnell and prepared by MFWF’s official catering partner, Peter Rowland Group, with premium poultry from Aurum, wines by Tahbilk, beers from Brick Lane Brewing, still, sparkling and flavoured waters for Capi, coffee by Melbourne’s own Inglewood Coffee Roasters, all served by a team of waitstaff dressed to the nines in Cargo Crew. With thanks to their beauty brand partner, Mecca Cosmetica, every guest receives a 150ml bottle of its luxuriously whipped To Save Body SPF30 Radiant Sun Mousse.
